CRA Yr of Mercy logo 150The scenic Blue Mountains in New South Wales offers the perfect setting for the annual Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) National Assembly on 21 to 23 June 2016 with its theme, "Creation: The Constant Outpouring of God's Love and Mercy".

Members of Catholic Religious Australia (CRA), the peak association of leaders representing over 180 congregations and religious institutes, will gather in Leura to reflect on the message of Laudato Si’ and the Jubilee Year of Mercy in the light of the Gospel. The event also offers an opportunity to consider religious life and how it is experienced at this time in Australia.

They will be joined by the Apostolic Nuncio of Australia, Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana, lay partners and delegates of religious conferences of New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

This year, invitations to the Assembly were also extended to the representatives of Public Juridic Persons (PJPs) who have canonical and governance responsibility for many Education, Health, Aged Care and Community services formerly conducted by Religious Institutes. “The participation of PJP representatives at the Assembly offers them continued connection with the Institutes for whose ministries they now have responsibility,” said Sr Berneice.

The Assembly features Sister Elaine Wainwright rsm and Sister Anne Boyd csb as key speakers throughout the three days. Sr Elaine is a biblical scholar committed to contextual interpretation. She enables people to engage with scripture that inspires transformation. She will lead assembly participants to carefully read biblical texts through an ecological lens in today’s socio-historical context.

Brigidine Sister Anne Boyd is the editor of EarthSong Journal and a member of the coordinating team of EarthSong, a Melbourne-based educational project which offers programs in ecology and spirituality. She is a gifted teacher who facilitates an awareness of the interconnectedness of social and ecological justice, helping people explore a new way of being on Earth.
