Josephite Sister Susan Connelly and other concerned people are asking for support for a petition calling for a fair and permanent border in the Timor Sea based on the median line to allow Australia and Timor Leste to claim what is rightfully theirs under international law.
Australia has permanent maritime boundaries with most nations in its region: New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. But there is no border between Timor-Leste and Australia. Timor-Leste wants a boundary in the Timor Sea to which they have a right. Australia needs to finalise the matter and do it as soon as possible. It is time to draw the line for a fair and permanent border between Australia and Timor-Leste to determine what resources it owns.
An acommpanying two-page brochure "Draw the Border in the Timor Sea" can be downloaded and printed on A4 size which offers background information on the Timor Sea issue for those who need more information.
