In promoting and supporting the contemplative and prophetic service of Religious in Australian society ... based on the values of being attentive to the Spirit, inclusive and prophetic ...

Catholic Religious Australia welcomes and celebrates the tremendous diversity of gifts and talents freely and generously given by more than 8000 Religious in Australia and overseas as they seek to live in fidelity to the call of God in their lives.
With more than 180 congregations based in this country in 2007, Australian society is enriched and supported by Religious men and women - Priests, Brothers and Sisters - who give daily and loving witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Be they in an enclosed monastery or facing the perils of civil war; be they in a parish, school, hospital or at a detention centre or retreat centre or in a family's home, their actions are founded on bringing the love of God to those around them.

While many of our congregations Founders would not have envisaged today's world, the charisms through which these congregations were called forth are finding life-giving, creative and innovative expressions as our Australian Religious continue to minister at home and abroad.
The ministries highlighted throughout this website are not exhaustive. They do, however, give a comprehensive overview of the extensive and compassionate interaction of the Catholic Church with today's world through the advocacy and action of Religious women and men.
Please follow the various menu buttons on the right hand side of this page and/or visit the website of individual congregations to see in more detail the ministries in which, and places where, Australia's Religious are involved.
